How I extend the sides of my Pullups
NEW!! the latest mod is to remove the clothlike cover, yielding: A Plastic Pullup. Very babyish!
I have been wearing these pullups a lot now, and they hold a lot. It is indeed possible to fit them on to myself, but I do find myself wishing for a couple of inches more in the waist so they wouldn't fit so tightly when I sit down.
I was surfing through the DPF site when I came across a page where someone was describing making extender tabs for baby diapers and pullups. To use them on pullups required cutting of the elastic on the sides and splicing it back with very narrow extender straps.
This gave me the idea to do a similar trick to the new velcro-sided pullups and it worked great. The method I came up with is so easy. The simple method requires only scissors, The harder method needs a hot glue gun too, and neither method leaves a single bit of wasted resources.
Take one of the new velcro-sided Pullups and undo the sides. Now cut the side panels (the ones with the velcro strip) off. Voila- you have 2 extender panels that will attach right to the sides of the Pullup and give you about 1-2 inches more waist size. If you want to work a little harder, just cut the other panels off too. Then hot glue the 2 pieces from each side end to end. When velcroed to the normal ends, they give you about 3 inches or more per side.
Begin with these.
Here's the part you cut off (times 4).
Here's the cut off piece. You can use this as-is, or hot glue both halves of one side together.

The side of the pullup with the extender installed (center seam is where 2 halves are glued). You really can't tell this is not a factory standard diaper.

Even the leftover part becomes a great diaper stuffer
